Most successful managers in FA CUP

Arsene Wenger

When it comes to FA Cup domination, no one does it better than Wenger.

Arsenal have won the trophy a record 14 times, with the Frenchman in charge for seven of those wins.

Wenger led the side to victory in 1997/98, 2001/02, 02/03, 04/05, 13/14, 14/15 and the 2016/17 season. Most impressively, he won his last time almost 20 years after he won his first.

George Ramsay

Founded in 1871, the FA Cup is now 153 years old.

15 years after its foundation, Aston Villa won their first title with Ramsay as manager.

A former player of the side, he served as the secretary and manager of the club during its golden age, AVFC History confirmed. Ramsay first won the title in 1887 and last won it 33 years later in 1920.

Alex Ferguson

Ferguson has won 40 trophies with United during his legendary run as manager, winning the FA Cup five times.

Even though he won five, the first will always hold a special meaning for him.

Ferguson was appointed as manager of the Red Devils in 1986, but after three poor seasons, pressure was mounting on him.

In 1990, Fergie was facing the sack, but his side managed to win the cup, thereby saving his job.

John Nicholson

Nicholson was a famous figure who served as a club secretary but was never officially appointed manager.

Despite this, he led Sheffield United to four FA Cup titles.

Nicholson led the club to the title in 1899, 1902, 1915 and 1925, and also saw them lose two finals during his tenure.

While he was never a manager of the side, he was offered the post of Manchester City boss in 1925, a year after his last FA Cup win, but he turned it down to stay with the Blades.

FA Cup quarter-finals confirmed

Sports Brief reported how the final eight teams in this season’s FA Cup have now been confirmed.

The quarter-final fixtures have officially been decided and will serve some mouth-watering fixtures.

Man United will host high-flying Liverpool while defending champions, Man City, take on Newcastle.
