In the face of mounting pressure and momentum swinging in favour of Bafana Bafana, the 27-year-old Chippa United star stood resolute, repelling every offensive onslaught launched by Hugo Broos' squad.

Nwabali's heroics reached their climax when the match was decided by penalties.

The Nigerian goalkeeper thwarted spot kicks from Teboho Mokoena, who had previously beaten him from the spot in regular play, and Evidence Makgopa, securing a vital victory for the Super Eagles.

In the wake of his stellar performance, a Nigerian football legend has taken a moment to commend the remarkable efforts of Nwabali.

Super Eagles icon hails Nwabali

Following the conclusion of the game, esteemed Super Eagles icon and the hero of AFCON 2013, Vincent Enyeama, took to his social media platform to laud Nwabali.

The 41-year-old shared a congratulatory post on his Instagram account, applauding the Nigerian team and singling out Nwabali for his remarkable performance.

"Congratulations @ng_supereagles @nwabali32, keep soaring. So proud of you, #hero."

Revered as one of Nigeria's finest goalkeepers in football history, Enyeama played a pivotal role in the Super Eagles' previous AFCON triumph in South Africa in 2013.

The former Lille goalkeeper now harbours hopes that Nwabali can replicate success as Nigeria prepares to face Ivory Coast in the final at the Stade Alassane Ouattara on February 11.

Sports Brief also reported on a delightful moment as Nwabali treated his Nigeria teammates to a joyous dance following their triumph over South Africa.

Encouraged by his fellow players, the 27-year-old goalkeeper showcased his impressive footwork and dance skills, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Throughout the tournament in Ivory Coast, Nwabali has consistently stood out as one of Nigeria's standout performers on their journey to the AFCON 2023 final.
