The Gunners will face Ferguson's former team at the Emirates in a crunch Premier League tie. A win for them could open the gap on top of the Premier League to 11 points.

Ferguson's policy

Speaking ahead of the game, Arteta said that Ferguson's policy of honesty had a huge impact on his career. Arteta began his Arsenal career with a brutal 8-2 defeat at the hands of Sunday opponents in 2011.

"What really captured me was his presence, his charisma and the way he talked. How honest and brutal he was about certain opinions he had about players and the game. I had a few conversations, not formally, but with people around him and it was more listening than talking," as quoted by Sun.

Ferguson was known for matching his string words with actions. Arteta has seemingly borrowed from his playbook. Since his appointment in 2019, the former assistant to Pep Guardiola has already shown the door to big stars like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil.

Where Arsenal vs Manchester United will be determined

Sports Brief had earlier reported that for the first time in over a decade, Arsenal will face Manchester United with the EPL title in their sights. Not a top-four finish or just bragging rights. The grandest prize of them all will be at play.

The Gunners have played some of their best football in recent years under Mikel Arteta. Their lead on top of the table is not by mere luck. It is a result of hard work and trusting the process.

But against Manchester United, they face a team that has already beaten them this season. A team with a no-nonsense manager who is trying to rebuild the club in the image of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.
