Senegal have discovered their 2022 World Cup opponents in the last of 16 of the tournament.

The reigning African champions booked their spot in the competition's knockout round following their hard-fought 2-1 win over Ecuador on Tuesday evening, November 29.

Senegal eventually got the job done on Tuesday evening when they saw off Ecuador to reach the last 16 of the World Cup.

Who will Senegal face in the last 16?

The African football giants now face one of their biggest tests yet in the competition as they prepare to face England in the knockouts.

England set up a crunch clash against Senegal after they finished top of Group B with seven points.

The Three Lions secured the top spot following their 3-0 thrilling win over Wales in the final group fixture on Tuesday night.

A Marcus Rashford brace and Phil Foden's goal were enough to help the Gareth Southgate-tutored side sail through with ease.

The England vs Senegal mouthwatering tie is set to be played on Sunday, December 4, at Al Bayt Stadium.

Kalidou Koulibaly pays tribute

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly wore a special armband to pay tribute to the late Papa Bouba Diop who passed away exactly two years ago.

The Chelsea star wrote 19 on his armband, the jersey number of the legendary forward.

Diop died on November 29, 2020 at the age of 42 after losing his battle with illness.

The legendary striker scored Senegal's first-ever goal at the World Cup after scoring the winner against France at the 2002 tournament.
