Following Romelu Lukaku’s loan move to Inter Milan and Werner’s imminent departure, Thomas Tuchel has been left with just Kai Havertz and Armando Broja as the senior strikers in his squad.
GiveMeSport reported that Tuchel himself was the reason why Werner wanted to leave. According to the publication, Werner and Tuchel have not seen eye to eye of late, prompting the German to want a return to his former stomping grounds.
Werner made 156 appearances for Leipzig during his time at the club and score a whopping 90 goals. He also created 40 assists.
With Leipzig looking to challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title this season, they will be happy to welcome back their talisman striker. Leipzig currently have Christopher Nkunku on their books who has been in red hot form and will be relishing partnering him up with Werner.
