An Italian athlete had a day to forget at the ongoing World U-20 Athletics Championships in Santiago de Cali, Colombia when his manhood kept dropping out of his shorts in the middle of the race.

Nonino started well in one of the middle lanes but slowed off with viewers noticing that he reached down to his private area one too many times.

Sport Bible reports that Nonino kept trying to put his manhood back in his running shorts, but his attempts failed. He ended up finishing last in the race. The 18-year-old immediately took to his Instagram stories after the race to explain the situation.

I just want to talk to you a little bit about what is going on in blogs and social media. I am aware of the situation and it was obviously an accident. I am trying to laugh about it right now, but I felt terrible immediately after the race.

The wardrobe malfunction affected Nonino, who ended up clocking 51.57 seconds.

Venus Williams' incident at the French Open

Similar comparisons can be drawn to Venus Williams' incident at the French Open in 2010, where she wore shorts that matched her skin colour beneath a laced black and red outfit. At a first glance, one would have thought that she was naked.

Her choice of dressing drew widespread reactions from all over. The only difference with Nonino's case was Williams did not have any apologies to make.

Ferdinand Omanyala races to 100 metres victory

In a contrasting set of fortunes, Sports Brief had earlier reported that Ferdinand Omanyala atoned for his World Athletics Championships misfortunes by winning the men's 100 metres final of the Commonwealth Games.

Omanyala dethroned the reigning champion Akani Simbine by running 10.02 seconds to become the first Kenyan to win the race in over 60 years.

Simbine settled for silver with a time of 10.13 seconds. Omanyala was the favourite after going through the semifinals with the fastest time.
