“I sustained an injury, and when I came back, Nigeria refused to take care of my injury, so I had to use my life savings to go back to America in September 1985 to take care of the injury.
“But I still come out to volunteer myself to give back to my country. People are saying, ‘why should you do that? They didn’t take care of you'.”

In a chat with Sports Brief, the most-capped Super Eagles player Ahmed Musa confirmed that he sent the 1982 Commonwealth gold medalist half a million Naira.

“I just finished speaking with him now. I sent him N500,000.”

Kingsley Obiekwu thanks Musa for his N2million gift

Earlier in the year, former Nigerian international Kingsley Obiekwu narrated how Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa came to his aid by giving him N2million.

The Nigerian media space was awash with news that Obiekwu, who had eight caps for Nigeria back in the days, is struggling to survive as a taxi driver.

He represented Nigeria at the international level and was a member of the squad which won the gold medal in football at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

News of him surviving as a taxi driver garnered reactions from the public and Ahmed Musa was said to have made a N2million donation to the ex-international.

Musa gifts N20,000 each to 5,000 people in Jos

Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa continues to support members of his community as the Fatih Karagumruk forward donated N20,000 each to about five thousand people in Jos.

Artisans, including tailors, bean sellers, shoemakers and a host of other small business owners, were supported with such an amount by the Nigerian international.

Musa, who is famous for helping the poor and sick, made this latest gesture when he personally handed the cash gift to the individuals.
