According to Daily Star, Fabregas' departure from Monaco came after he endured an injury-hit final season in the French top flight.

The 35-year-old could only manage just five appearances for The Monégasques last season, with a hamstring injury alone leaving him sidelined for four months.

Cesc Fabregas set for Como move

With the Spaniard in the sunset years of his career, he appears to be headed for a move to the Italian second-tier.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now reported that the two-time Premier League winner has agreed a two-year deal with Como to join them ahead of next season.

The veteran midfielder is reportedly set to fly to Italy next month to seal the move officially.

“Como have reached full verbal agreement with Cesc Fabregas. Italian second division side are now set to complete the deal on two-year contract," Fabrizio tweeted.

Former Chelsea star Dennis Wise is currently at the helm of Como, serving as the club's chairman and head of sports operations.

The 21-year-old French defender was signed by the Gunners in 2019 but struggled to win over Arteta's trust.

However, the ex-Saint Etienne star is set to get a lifeline at the Emirates in the upcoming season following his return to Arsenal.
