Given the significance of the occasion, every Real Madrid star was expected to be available for the special moment.

Gareth Bale no show at Santiago Bernabeu

The Sun reports that Bale, who has endured a tumultuous spell at the Bernabeu in recent months was conspicuously missing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It is understood the Welshman had earlier withdrawn from the squad that took on Espanyol with a back injury.

Despite his absence, Real still managed to secure a comfortable victory that earned them their 35th La Liga crown.

Celebrations and jubilation broke at the Bernabeu as Real were officially handed the trophy, with injured and suspended players joined the party.

However, Bale was nowhere to be seen even as he nears an ugly summer exit from the club at the end of the season.

Gareth Bale breaks silence after he missed Real's La Liga party

The former Premier League winner later took to social media to break his silence on his absence, claiming he was gutted he had missed the party.

He, however, was quick to congratulate the team for the triumph, adding that he was "proud of the team."

"CAMPEONES. So disappointed that I’m not able to be part of the celebrations this evening due to a bad back spasm but really proud of the team for winning the title! Enjoy tonight boys!"

Carlo Ancelotti makes European football history

Earlier, Sports Brief reported legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti has inked his name in history books after inspiring Real Madrid to their 35th La Liga title.

Real's triumph in the Spanish league under the tutelage of Ancelotti now means the Italian is the first to win league titles across Europe's top five major leagues.

The tactician first won the Serie A with AC Milan back in 2004 before following up the league success with Chelsea in the EPL, PSG in France, and with Bayern in the Bundesliga.
