- Lacazette revealed he is looking to join a club playing in the Champions League - but did not rule out a potential return to Lyon
Arsenal striker Alexander Lacazette has revealed he is inching closer to departing the club ahead of the summer transfer window.
Lacazette's current deal at the Emirates is set to expire at the end of the ongoing season, paving way for his exit as a free agent.
The Frenchman has been leading Arsenal's attackline since the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back in January.
However, he has struggled to fill the void left by the Gabonese, scoring just once in 14 appearances since the start of 2022.
Which club could Alexander Lacazette join?
According to Lacazette, he is already in talks with several clubs to discuss a potential transfer at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old divulged that he has set his sights on joining a club that will be playing Champions League football.
"I am in discussions with a lot of clubs. I am open," Lacazette told Canal Plus.
"I want to play in Europe, it’s been a long time since I played in the Champions League, I’m missing it," he added.
However, he did not rule out a potential return to Lyon, revealing that he still maintains contacts at the French club.
"I have never cut contact with Lyon since I left," the forward admitted.
Mikel Arteta faulted for sanctioning Auba's exit
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal's lack of a substantive and experienced striker has proved detrimental in their push to secure a top-four finish.
According to Gabby Agbonlahor, the decision to let Aubameyang leave in January was a wrong call by Mikel Arteta.
While the Gunners appeared to be coping without him in the early weeks of January, Arteta's men have struggled for goals in recent weeks.
