Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has warned Man City that his side "will not give them an inch" in the Premier League title race.
The two EPL heavyweights are expected to go head-to-head in the race to win the domestic crown at the end of the season.
The Reds trailed City by a massive 14 points by the turn of the new year but have since closed the gap to one point.
Liverpool momentarily tops the standings
Liverpool briefly topped the standings for the first time since December on Saturday, April 2, after they sunk Watford in the early kick-off.
A goal apiece on either side of the half from Diogo Jota and Fabinho proved to be the difference as the Merseysiders secured a 2-0 win at home to go top.
However, City regained their place on the summit later in the day after they won their own fixture by a similar scoreline against Burnley.
Klopp sends warning to Guardiola's Man City
Klopp, who went into wild celebration after Liverpool's victory revealed his jubilant mood had nothing to do with Liverpool momentarily going top.
However, the German was quick to send a cautionary note to City, warning that his Liverpool side won't give the reigning English champions an inch in the title race.
"It was nothing to do with being top of the league. I didn't think about that. But we can't give an inch," Daily Mail quoted Klopp saying.
"To keep in the title race we have to win our games. The next game is a big one, we can't hide from that," he added.
