Juan Mata is seeking a new challenge

According to The Athletic, Mata may be weighing options of playing in a different country away from England.

At 33 years of age, the midfielder is said to be keen to continue playing at the top level in Europe.

Mata, who has spent close to eight years at the Theatre of Dreams has a few months left on his current deal with the Red Devils.

Why is Mata considering leaving Man United?

Metro UK claims the former Chelsea midfielder is becoming frustrated with life under Ralf Rangnick who has failed to give him a chance to prove what he can offer.

The former Spain international made the squad that lost to Man City during the Manchester derby played on Sunday, March 6.

However, he was an unused substitute during the encounter as Rangnick's men were humiliated 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea star step away from Stamford Bridge exit

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge after he reportedly had a second medical at Barcelona.

Christensen, whose deal with the Blues is up in the air was expected to renew his contract with the west London club before talks collapsed.

Bayern Munich were also said to be keen on his services, but it appears the La Liga giants have won the race to secure his services.

According to reports, the centre-back underwent part two of his medical at Camp Nou on Monday, March 7, a week after he had undergone the first one which he passed.
