FootballAFCON 2021: Cameroon's Aboubakar Says Mo Salah Does Not Impress Him
- Vincent Aboubakar has made his feelings known on what he thinks about Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah
- According to Aboubakar, there is nothing special about Salah as he does not produce much during matches
- The two strikers are set to face off when Egypt take on Cameroon in the other remaining 2021 AFCON semi-final fixture
Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar has given a damning assessment of Mohamed Salah ahead of their 2021 AFCON semi-final meeting with Egypt.
Salah has undoubtedly lived up to his billing at the 33rd edition of the African tournament, playing an influential role in Egypt's campaign to the semis.
Unlike in the 2019 tournament, the Liverpool star has managed to bring his A-game at club level to the international scene.
While many, fans and pundits alike view Salah as one of the world's best footballers, Aboubakar has sensationally claimed the Egyptian does not impress him.
What Aboubakar thinks of Salah
In an interview with Then24, Aboubakar, who plays for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr accused Salah of not producing enough during matches, insisting he cannot match the likes of Kylian Mbappe.
"He doesn’t impress me much. I say it clearly because I’m an honest person and I have my way of seeing things. If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much," Aboubakar said.
"Of course, he’s doing good stuff in the Premier League because he’s been in a team that’s been there for years. He’s a good player but not at the level of some like (Kylian) Mbappe," he added.
Aboubakar's strong sentiments came just hours ahead of Cameroon's meeting with Egypt and will now be hoping his comments do not backfire.
The 29-year-old has been in electric form for Cameroon at AFCON, scoring six goals to help his country reach the last four.
