Lampard is set to succeed Rafa Benitez who was recently sacked after a string of poor results.

The Toffees formally announced the Englishman on Monday, January 31, with the legendary midfielder beating Vitor Pereira and Duncan Ferguson to the job.

"Everton Football Club can confirm the appointment of Frank Lampard as the Club’s new manager," the Merseysiders said in a statement.
"The former England midfielder has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract - until June 2024 - and will take charge of the First Team for the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Brentford at Goodison Park on Saturday 5 February," the club added.

Lampard will be assisted by Joe Edwards, with Paul Clement and Chris Jones also joining them in the backroom staff.

This will be the Englishman's first managerial assignment since he was sacked almost a year ago at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after his move to Everton, the legendary midfielder described the appointment as "a huge honour."

“It is a huge honour for me to represent and manage a club the size and tradition of Everton Football Club. I’m very hungry to get started," he told Everton's official website.
“You can feel the passion Everton fans have for their club. That will be hugely important," he added.

Man United star on verge of leaving Old Trafford

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Man United outcast Donny van de Beek is a step away from joining Premier League rivals Everton.

The midfielder is expected to spend the rest of the 2021/22 season with the Toffees on loan.

According to reports, a buy option has not been included in the deal, with the Toffees set to cover the midfielder's wages during his time at the club.

Van de Beek is said to be currently undergoing a medical at Goodinson Part ahead of his transfer.
