Legendary Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, couldn't contain his admiration for Jadon Sancho after witnessing the winger's breathtaking performance against PSG in the Champions League.

Sancho, with his creative brilliance on full display, stole the limelight from Kylian Mbappe as Borussia Dortmund clinched victory over the recently crowned French champions in the first leg of their semi-final encounter.

While the on-loan Man United winger started the game slowly, he soon became the linchpin of Dortmund's attack.

Under the guidance of head coach Edin Terzic, Dortmund directed their offensive moves towards the right flank, where Sancho was deployed.

Terzic's tactical decision proved fruitful as the 24-year-old forward delivered a stellar performance on the grand stage, effortlessly manoeuvring past the PSG defence.

Sancho created three scoring opportunities and could have secured two assists if his teammates had been more clinical in front of goal.

He also made history by becoming the first Englishman to complete 11 or more take-ons in a single Champions League game. His electrifying and mesmerising dribbles left the PSG defence trailing behind, per ESPN.

According to Squawka, it has been 16 years since the last time a player completed more dribbles in a UCL semi-final—Lionel Messi against Manchester United in 2008.

Ferdinand lauds Sancho's dazzling display

In his post-game analysis of the Dortmund vs PSG clash at Signal Iduna Park, Ferdinand couldn't help but lavish praise on his compatriot, Sancho, whose performance left him thoroughly impressed.

"He was shaking and baking top players," he told TNT Sports as quoted by Eurosport.
"He’s making people dance. It was a joke what he has done today."
"We haven’t seen this, probably since he was at Dortmund. He isn’t just a dribbler. He isn't somebody who just runs and runs.

Vinicius expresses admiration for Sancho

In a related publication, Sports Brief highlighted the widespread praise Jadon Sancho received from the football community, with Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior counted among his admirers.

After his standout performance in Real Madrid's 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich, Vinicius expressed his admiration for Sancho's attacking skills on Instagram, succinctly stating, "What a player."
