On the 31st of March 1999, he married his current wife, Rebecca Curci Hickenbottom. Shawn Michaels' wife, Rebecca, worked as a dancer for the World Championship Wrestling's The Nitro Girls. The couple has two children: their son, Cameron Cade, born in January 2000, and their daughter, Cheyenne Michelle, born in August 2004.

Michaels, who had two runs with World Wrestling Entertainment, was paid an annual salary of $2 million. He also received hefty appearance fees, such as his $3 million compensation for the 2012 WWE Crown Jewel match.

In an interview with Grilling JR, former WWE commentator Jim Ross revealed Michaels' earnings for four years during his absence from the ring. The Heartbreak Kid signed an endorsement deal with EyeBlack for the production of a custom product line. Details of the wrestler's earnings from the deal are yet to be revealed.


Michaels' trained under the late Jose Lothario, a Mexican professional wrestler. Before his debut as a pro wrestler, he trained under the ring name Shawn Michaels. 

In 1984, he debuted under the Mid-South Wrestling and Texas All-Star Wrestling promotion companies. At the time, he and his partner, Paul Diamond, won the TAW Tag Team Championship.

He later teamed up with Marty Jannetty while working for Central States Wrestling. The tag team beat the reigning champions, the Batten Twins, for the Central States Tag Team Championship before losing it again to the Twins.

Michaels also worked for the World Class Championship Wrestling in 1985. At age 20, he made his ñational debut under the American Wrestling Association, where he teamed up with Marty Jannetty to win the AWA World Tag Team Championship. 

In 1987, Michaels and Jannetty were signed by the World Wrestling Federation, now World Wrestling Entertainment, under their stage names, The Rockers. However, a bar incident that Michaels later called a misunderstanding in his autobiography led to their termination from WWF two weeks later. In 1988, The Rockers were resigned by WWF.
