The Bull's love for wrestling

How Chetty started in wrestling

A huge fan of wrestling, Joshua would take any opportunity he could to watch it. He would even attend local shows and help set up the ring and arena, just to be a part of the business. Having been involved in rugby and soccer as a kid, Joshua got into discus as he got older, winning many gold medals in the sport.

He started bodybuilding at the age of 14 and then got into kickboxing, before entering the world of professional wrestling at the age of 18. A face (good guy) in wrestling, The Bull employs The Spear as his finishing move.

The Bull's first wrestling match

The South African fighter will also never forget his debut in the sport when he competed at a show commemorating 150 years since the arrival of Indians in the country. The show was held on November 13, 2010, exactly five years after wrestling legend, Eddie Guerrero passed away.

Chetty on making history

Joshua has not only competed in a host of bouts, including hardcore matches, ladder matches, and a Capture the Flag Fatal 4-way match, but he has also made history in the sport. He was one-half of the WWP Tag Team champions, a title he won in Durban, to become the first Indian wrestler to hold the championship in the organisation’s history.

Chetty: Not just a wrestler

While he is an accomplished wrestler already, it’s not all that Joshua does. The 30-year-old runs the supplement shop at The Rock Gym and Wellness Center in Chatsworth and also does acting. He described wrestling as a hobby and a part-time job. It has seen him travel across the country and feature heavily on television.

The Bull's biggest stage:

CPW is shown on national television and also hosts big shows across the country. Their biggest event, WrestleMonster is considered the WrestleMania of the African wrestling scene, and Joshua has had the privilege of competing on the big stage at this year’s event. He competed in a Fatal 4-way Capture the Flag match against Alessio, The X-Terminator, and Zizou Middoux. The Bull sadly came up short in the match.

'Wrestling is no easy feat'

Joshua admitted that wrestling wasn’t easy and learning to take a hit and fall was tough, but added he got used to it over time. He’s also picked up numerous injuries during his career, having bled and endured a lot of pain in the ring. He added that he does take care of his body, ensuring he eats well and trains well so he can perform at a high level.

Chetty has a supportive family

Joshua credited his family as being supportive of his choice to get into wrestling and also his spiritual father, Dr Allen Joseph, who has supported him when it comes to his career. For more of Joshua’s matches, you can check out his YouTube channel.

Undertaker drew inspiration from Kobe

While Joshua The Bull was inspired by The Undertaker, The Deadman was inspired by a legend in another sport.

Mark Calaway, the man who many know as Taker, recently explained that he drew a lot of inspiration from former NBA superstar, Kobe Bryant.

The Undertaker praised the later superstar for his mindset and approach to sports, Sports Brief reported.
