It's WrestleMania season, and that means anything can happen in the WWE.

This year WrestleMania 39 will emanate from the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, and the two-night event promises to be action-packed.

While the card for the two nights has already been decided, that doesn't necessarily mean that fans know what to expect. WWE has a reputation for pulling out all the stops for WrestleMania, so expect some surprises at the event.

John Cena becomes US champ

The master of the Five-Knuckle Shuffle returns to WWE as he takes on Austin Theory for the United States championship. Theory has often been pushed as the future of the company and is expected to beat Cena and prove his doubters wrong.

WWE could mix things up by giving Cena the win on the grandest stage of 'em all and build a more heated rivalry with Theory going into the rest of the year.

New superstars debut or appear

If you want to make a shocking entrance in the WWE, you either do it at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania. With former NJPW competitors Jay White and Kota Ibushi becoming free agents, seeing them in Los Angeles wouldn't be a surprise.

Ibushi has turned down a deal with the WWE but could still make an appearance, while the Switchblade has remained quiet as to which company he will sign for next. According to SportsKeeda, Triple H is confident of signing White.

Edge and Rey Mysterio retire

Two legends of the wrestling industry will both be in action at WrestleMania 39.

Rey Mysterio (48) will take on his son, Dominik Mysterio, while Edge (49) will fight Finn Balor in a Hell in a Cell match. Regarding Rey, the Luchador may want to end his career by passing on the torch to his son on the biggest stage in the business.

With Edge, it won't be a surprise if he also calls it quits. There are reports that Gangrel and Christian will appear at Mania and reform The Brood for one night. Edge started his career as part of The Brood, so it's only fitting that he ends it with them.

Randy and the Rock return

WrestleMania is also the best place for returning superstars to make their mark.

One superstar who many are eager to see is Randy Orton. The Viper has not been seen since May 2022, when The Bloodline attacked him. Since then, Orton underwent surgery on his back but is rumoured to be closing in on a return. With the Usos defending their Unified Tag Team titles and Roman Reigns defending his Undisputed WWE Universal title, Orton could return to cost The Bloodline in a big way.

Speaking of The Bloodline, their cousin The Rock could also appear at the Showcases of Immortals. The Great One was rumoured to challenge Reigns for the title at one stage but could not be fit enough for a match due to his busy schedule.

With WrestleMania taking place in Hollywood, it wouldn't be a stretch for The People's Champ to make a surprise appearance. Wrestling Inc reported that both men are also rumoured to be appearing at the event.

Roman Reigns to defend

Since Cody Rhodes returned to the WWE, he's had one thing on his mind.

The American Nightmare wants to win the World Championship, a title his father, Dusty Rhodes, didn't get to achieve. After winning the Royal Rumble, all signs point toward a Rhode victory so that he finishes the fairytale story. But that dream may not come true as WWE can leave the titles on Reigns.

The Tribal Chief has been champion for over 940 days, and while many think he's finally going to lose the belts, WWE could pull a blindside and let him walk out of the SoFi Stadium with both belts around his waist.

The defending champions at WrestleMania

WrestleMania 39 is finally here, and plenty of titles are up for grabs.

Six championships will be on the line at the SoFi Stadium as WrestleMania goes Hollywood.

Sports Brief looks at the champions defending their titles and who they will defend against.
