Conor McGregor is not short of confidence, that's for sure.

The former UFC double champion is well known for his trash-talking and self-promotion, and he hasn't disappointed ahead of his return.

The Notorious will fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June, and speaking ahead of the bout, he called on the UFC to introduce a new belt in his honour.

As noted by Bloody Elbow, the Irishman said that it's time the UFC honour him for his achievements by introducing a new title belt.

“There should be a McGregor belt or some sort of money belt, I don’t know. The UFC needs to come up with one for me because all of these things were created off the back of me," he said.

The Notorious was the first person to hold two titles in two different weight divisions simultaneously and is also one of the biggest draws in the company's history.

What's next for McGregor?

McGregor will return to the cage to take on Chandler at Welterweight, returning to the Octagon after two years away.

He last competed in the UFC in July 2021 when Dustin Poirier beat him.

With his return just over a month away, fight fans' excitement is at an all-time high.

A shot at Welterweight gold?

While McGregor is not ranked in the Welterweight division, a victory over Chandler could put him in title contention.

Current champion Leon Edwards admitted that he would love to defend the belt against the Irishman.

As noted by MMA Mania, Edwards said that he would like to face The Notorious in New York for the title if he beats Chandler.

Edwards would also have to get past his next challenger for that to happen. The champion will defend his title at UFC 304 against Belal Muhammad.

McGregor invests in combat sports promotion

Sports Brief previously reported how McGregor had invested in combat sports promotion, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

Since his last fight, the former UFC champion has invested in many business ventures and is now co-owner of another one.

BKFC’s President David Feldman was thrilled with the investment, saying that having the Irishman on board was a needle mover.
