UFC fighter Ciryl Gane's apartment was burgled by thieves during his main event victory in Paris against Moldovan fighter Sergey Spivak at the Accor Arena.

The French fighter who coasted to a second-round knockout victory against his Moldovan counterpart was left dejected following the news of his house being burgled.

According to reports from French outlet Le Parisien, the burglars carted away with valuables, including a Rolex estimated at about €150,000.

The incident occurred overnight, prompting a call to the local police, who arrived at the residence in Nogent-sur-Marne at 7:30 on Sunday morning.

It is believed that the perpetrators forcibly entered the property through the front door, making off with not only the Rolex but also various jewellery items.

Gane joins the growing list of athletes who recently had their homes burgled in the French capital following Goal's reports of burglary in the house of Paris Saint Germain’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Gane speaks on fighting in Paris

The former UFC heavyweight champion recently spoke about his scepticism about fighting in front of his home crowd.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, the heavyweight fighter said

I'm not this kind of guy, I'm not really stressing, but I got the pressure. I'm not going to lie. I got the pressure. I wanted to do well."

As quoted by Sportskeeda, he continued:

“This is not a game of basketball or soccer.
That's different, and just that, you have some emotions really different so yeah, a little bit afraid, a little bit pressure, but excited and want to do well, but less than last year's because last year's was the first event in Paris and we didn't know exactly what we expected, but tonight I know the people in the crowd will be crazy and I did very well."

Following his victory, Gane will now shift his focus to Tom Aspinall, who posed an open challenge to the French fighter following his win on Saturday.

Adesanya vs. Strickland Frenchdney

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Israel Adesanya’s much anticipated showdown with Dricus Du Plessis will have to wait as “The Last Stylebender” will defend his UFC middleweight belt against Sean Strickland on September 9 in Sydney.

UFC president Dana White announced on Tuesday that Adesanya vs. Strickland will be the main event of UFC 293.

The UFC was hoping for Adesanya to defend his middleweight championship against Du Plessis in the main event for UFC 293. Unfortunately, the South African won’t be ready by September 9 after he suffered a foot injury before the Whittaker fight.
