Former welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, has declared his readiness to tackle Conor McGregor because they both share similar career trajectories in what is expected to be one of the biggest fights.

Since headlining UFC 286 in London, when he lost to Leon Edwards in the rubber match for the trilogy title, Usman, the top-ranked welterweight contender, hasn’t featured in any games.

McGregor on the other hand suffered a serious leg injury during a contest with Dustin Poirier, the 34-year-old Irish mixed martial artist, who formerly held the undisputed lightweight and featherweight crowns, has yet to make an appearance inside the Octagon.

Usman and the welterweight division have not yet engaged in combat even though McGregor is reportedly interested in the fight for quite some time now according to the reports on Punch and Naija News.

Ngannou shows support for Kamaru Usman

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Francis Ngannou is still extremely proud of Kamaru Usman.

The Cameroonian fighter showed his support for the former Welterweight champion after his recent defeat.

Usman was beaten by Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC 286. Edwards won via majority decision and settled his trilogy with The Nigerian Nightmare, winning two of their three fights.

Following the epic conclusion to the trilogy, Ngannou praised Usman on social media. He exclaimed that the Nigerian-born fighter was a champion with or without the belt. He ended the post with #3Kings.

Ngannou, Usman, and Israel Adesanya were considered to be the three African kings of the UFC. Ngannou was born in Cameroon, while Usman and Adesanya originally hail from Nigeria.

The trio were also all champions at the same time in the organization. The Predator held the Heavyweight title, The Nigerian Nightmare was the Welterweight champion, and ''The Last Style Bender'' was the Middleweight king.
