The tension between Israel Adesanya and Dricus du Plessis continues to rise.
The Nigerian-born fighter and the South African superstar are set to collide at UFC 293, and things are heating up between the two.
Why Adesanya is upset
The animosity between the superstars started when du Plessis said he wanted to be the first real African champ who was trained, born, and bred on the continent.
Nigeria’s Kamaru Usman, a former UFC champion, advised the South African to be more careful with how he phrased things, but it was Izzy who really took offence.
After defeating Alex Pereira, The Last Stylebender said he hoped a particular fighter would keep winning so that he ‘could drag his carcass across South Africa’. He refused to name the fighter because he didn't want to give him more attention.
Adesanya confronts du Plessis
The Nigerian-born Kiwi took it one step further when he entered the Octagon at UFC 290 to confront du Plessis after his victory.
As reported by MMA Mania, Izzy hurled numerous racial slurs at his future opponent.
If that wasn’t enough, Izzy continued targeting the South African on social media, saying that du Plessis had started this, but he (Izzy) would finish it.
He also posted a video shot before UFC 290, which showed that he was planning to confront Stillknocks in the Octagon if he were to beat Robert Whittaker.
In the video, Adesanya adds that he wants to drop a lot of N-words toward the new number-one contender if they were to meet face-to-face in the cage.
