Israel Adesanya was at the cage side to see his next challenger Dricus du Plessis, who produced an upset win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290.

South Africa’s Dricus du Plessis earned a second-round knockout victory over former 185lb titleholder Robert Whittaker on Saturday night.

While the winner celebrated his victory, the Last Stylebender made his way into the octagon to confront the number one middleweight contender.

Du Plessis was having his post-bout interview with Joe Rogan when ‘Izzy’ appeared from no nowhere, and things got heated.

Adesanya asked Du Plessis to look at his face but promised the confrontation would not degenerate into a physical showdown.

talkSPORT reports that the Stylebender went on to make a series of statements about race which has been at the forefront of his budding rivalry with du Plessis.

Du Plessis asked reporters in March:

“Did those belts ever go to Africa?”
“As far as I know, they came to America and New Zealand. I’m going to take a belt to Africa. I’m the African fighter in the UFC. Myself and Cameron (Saaiman), we breathe African air.
"We wake up in Africa every day. We train in Africa, we’re African born, we’re African raised, we still reside in Africa, we train out of Africa – that’s an African champion, and that’s who I’ll be.”

Adesanya, Jones quash beef

Sports Brief earlier reported that Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones had been bitter rivals for years, but judging by their recent video together, you might not say that.

The duo ran into each other and shared a funny moment, seemingly squashing their beef in the process. The video shows Adesanya chuckling, saying 'first Alex, now Jones'.

The Stylebender was referring to another recent video he shared where he ran into another fierce rival of his, Alex Pereira, at an airport, before Jones then put his arm around his back.
