  • Ronda Rousey has been tipped to make a stunning UFC comeback
  • Rousey hasn't fought in the Octagon since suffering back-to-back defeats in 2016
  • She has since successfully transitioned to professional wrestling

UFC fans could be in for a major surprise as rumours about Ronda Rousey possibly returning to the octagon circulate.

Rousey hasn't set foot inside the storied Octagon since her devastating loss to Amanda Nunes in just 48 seconds in December 2016.

The American fighter made the difficult decision to end her illustrious career following that crushing defeat.

Rousey then entered the world of professional wrestling, after joining the WWE and winning the SmackDown and Raw Women's Championships.

The 36-year-old continues to be one of the biggest names in women's combat sports despite leaving the UFC.

UFC President Dana White is dealing with a dearth of star power in the women's divisions as a result of Nunes' recent retirement from the sport.

Given the promotion's merger with the WWE, White may have the ideal chance to lure Rousey back into the MMA scene at this time, Marca reported.

And UFC commentator Jon Anik reckons 'Rowdy' could jump at the chance to make a sensational return.

The path could be made even smoother after UFC’s merger with WWE in April.

Anik said via Talksport: "If anyone is worthy of that type of opportunity, it's probably Ronda Rousey. And I do believe she would be competitive because she would not enter that setting without the guarantee that she would be competitive."

Ronda Rousey's UFC record

As reported by the Sun, Ronda Rousey successfully defended the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title a record six times.

But Rousey called time on her fighting career in 2016 after back-to-back defeats against Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.

Bowing out with 12 wins from 14, she was then snapped up by WWE in 2018 - the same year she became a UFC Hall of Famer.

And Rousey has since gone on to become a three-time world champion.

Rousey welcomes first child

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that WWE superstar Ronda Rousey is officially a mother. The wrestler announced the arrival of her daughter via a social media post on Monday, September 27.

The former Mixed Martial Arts fighter shared a photo of the newborn hand resting on her chest and revealed her unique name.

Ronda's husband, Travis Browne, also shared a photo of the newborn's hand on his chest.
