The first round was a cagey affair between the two ladies, as neither wanted to make a mistake. The champion Nunes used her jab to keep Aldana at bay and score some easy points. The challenger countered a few times but never looked a serious threat.

The champ enjoyed another comfortable round in the second, as she quickly found her range and landed shots. She also targeted Aldana’s legs. Aldana’s coaches asked her to stop respecting Nunes and up the pressure.
Nunes takes round 3
The Lioness mixed it up in round three as she took Aldana down. The Mexican fighter didn’t offer much on her feet and offered less on the ground. She managed to keep Nunes from hooking in any submissions and got the fight standing again before the round ended. That may not have been the best decision, as the champion landed some big shots to end the third.
Aldana punished in round 4
Aldana came forward more in the fourth round but was immediately made to pay for it. Nunes landed a vicious elbow before landing a few more big blows. Deep into the fourth round, Aldana’s face told the tale of a fighter getting beat. The commentators praised her for having a solid chin because he wasn’t knocked out yet.

The dominant champion took the fight down to the mat again in the fifth and final round, dominating her way to an easy win. Aldana looked defeated on the ground as she soaked up shot after shot. Nunes was relentless as she continued to land continuous body and head shots as the time ran out. Nunes made the announcement during her post-match press conference, leaving her gloves and titles in the middle of the Octagon.
