Belal Muhammad Dominates Brazil’s Gilbert Burns in UFC 288 Welterweight Bout

Gilbert Burns vs Belal Muhammad promised go be hard-hitting and it lived up to the hype.

Burns, competing in his second co-main event in a row, took on Muhammad in a Welterweight bout to crown a new number one contender.

While the Brazilian was the crowd favourite going into the bout, if was Muhammad who looked to steal the show. The Palestinian-American fighter landed some brutal kicks in the first round stunned Burns and made him wary about keeping his hands too high.

The Brazilian fighter, who has a lethal ground game, could not take the fight to the mat as Muhammad showed willingness to keep the fight standing.

The tactic paid off as he landed big shots in the second and third rounds as well. His brutal body kicks kept Burns at bay and the Brazilian complained that he had a problem with his left hand at the end of the third.

Burns had a much better fourth round as he landed some big shots of his own but Muhammad ate it and continued moving forward.

Muhammad also wasn't afraid to target the left hand, kicking at the Brazilian's already injured shoulder. By the start of the fight round, Muhammad had already thrown 100 more strikes than Burns. He controlled the fifth and final round and landed more punishing shots to the body as he cruised to victory.

All three judges gave him the win and the Chicago-based fighter is now setting his sights on a date with the champion, Leon Edwards.

Sterling defeats Cejudo

There was no love lost between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo coming into their main event fight at UFC 288.

The two Bantamweights had some bad blood between them and settled if for the title in New Jersey.

The champion defended the belt as he beat Cejudo by split decision, Sports Brief reported.
