Should the UFC find a new face of the Women’s Featherweight division?

UFC fighter, Norma Dumont certainly thinks so and believes she should be given a chance to be that face.

Amanda Nunes is the current champion but has not defended the title since March 2021, having instead been focused on retaining the UFC Women’s Bantamweight championship and has instead been focused on retaining that strap.

Nunes is also the only fighter listed under the Women’s Featherweight division on the UFC’s official rankings page.

Dumont, who holds a professional record of nine wins and two losses, believes the Featherweight title should be defended, or the division should move on without Nunes, MMA Junkie reported.

“I think that this is the time for the UFC to perhaps step in. First of all, the belt has not been defended for three years. I mean, she’s just sitting on it right there,” Dumont said.

She added that she remained at Featherweight for a chance to win the belt, and urged the UFC to pressure Nunes into either defending it or allowing two other competitors to compete for an interim title in the meantime.

Dumont even picked out who she’d love to face for the interim title - former Bantamweight champion, Holly Holm. Holm, who is now 41, last fought at UFC on ESPN 43 in March 2023 when she beat Yana Santos.

Nunes will be back in action when she defends her Bantamweight belt against Julianna Pena in the third meeting between the two. Both fighters have a win over the other.

Nunes remains undefeated in 2022

2022 was a busy year for champions in the UFC, Sports Brief has previously reported.

Titles changed hands on nine occasions during the year, but Nunes had no problems.

The Lioness was not involved in any action, nor defended her two belts, during 2022.
