The 'Last Stylebender' finally got one better of Pereira after failing to beat him on three previous occasions - two in kickboxing and one in UFC 281 last year.

Adesanya floored Pereira before doing his(Pereira) trademark arrow and bow celebration. He then turned to someone in the crowd before dropping to the floor.

Adesanya and Pereira's son

The 33-year-old has since confirmed that the celebration was targeted at Pereira's son whom he has had a longstanding issue with.

In 2017, Pereira's son was seen mocking Adesanya after his father beat him in kickboxing. The son had gotten into the ring and fell beside the Nigerian-born fighter after the Glory of Heroes 7 in Sao Paolo.

Speaking after the game, Adesanya said:

"I'm petty, bro. I remember the first time he knocked me out in Brazil, and his son came into the ring and then started to lie dead next to me. But then, yeah, I looked for his kid, and I pointed at him, and I saw him, and I was like, hey, hey, hey, just to remind him," as quoted by GMS

How Adesanya beat Pereira

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Israel Adesanya returned to the top of the Middleweight division, and fans can’t get enough of The Last Stylebender’s performance.

Izzy has blown up social media with his stunning victory at UFC 287 and subsequent celebrations. Nigerian-born superstar knocked out champion Alex Pereira in the second round of their main event fight to reclaim his Middleweight title. Adesanya then followed it up by using Pereira’s arrow celebration to mark his victory, sending social media wild.

Former UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou was also quick to praise his fellow African compatriot, describing him as the best Middleweight of all time.
