FootballJon Jones Not Impressed with Ciryl Gane’s Kickboxing Skills Ahead of Heavyweight Title Fight
- Jon Jones had some choice words about Ciryl Gane's previous opponents ahead of their title fight
- Gane has lost only one of his 12 fights in the UFC, and is a former Interim Heavyweight champion
- Jones has not fought in the UFC for 3 years, but is bulking up for his move to the heavyweight division
Jon Jones isn’t too impressed with Ciryl Gane’s kickboxing skills.
Jones makes his return to the UFC this coming weekend to take on the French fighter for the vacant Heavyweight title and has been dissecting his opponents before the fight.
Despite not having fought for the past three years, Jones is still the betting favourite going into the fight, and Bones recently explained why.
As noted by BJ Penn, Jones doesn’t rate Gane’s kickboxing skills too highly, believing that Thiago Santos was a better striker.

“I just finished watching my Thiago Santos fight again. I think it’s crazy that you guys consider Gane the most technical kickboxer I’ve ever faced. Everything Thiago did had bad intentions on it. Dude had lightning speed, power, explosiveness. Crazy versatility,” Jones recently said on social media.
Jones further stated that Gane’s previous opponents had poor defence, so the Frenchman’s skills couldn’t be based of that.
Gane poses a real threat
Even though Jones doesn’t appear too phased by the threat Gane poses, the Frenchman is a serious contender. As noted by Tapology, Gane has won 11 fights in the UFC and has only tasted defeat once.
His only loss came against Francis Ngannou for the Heavyweight title. Gane is also a former interim champion in the division ad will be looking to get his hands back on the gold.
