Give Me Sport recently noted that the 35-year-old has been hard at work training ahead of his return to the octagon, surprising many with his physique.

Video footage also shows Jones lifting enormous weights and practicing jabs, uppercuts and strikes during training, sending a warning to any who stand in his way.

Jones has been touted to make his return early this year, and could find himself thrust straight into a title bout against Cameroon’s Francis Ngannou.

Ngannou is the current heavyweight champion of the UFC but has only defended his title once.

Bones, who holds many promotion records, is already setting his eyes on claiming the gold, recently putting out a tweet that underlined his aim for 2023.

Is Jones at GOAT status?

Jones will be looking to cement his status as the greatest UFC fighter of all time.

He already has the records for the longest win streak and most wins. He’s also only lost one fight in his whole career, via disqualification.

Only Jones’s rival, Daniel Cormier has held the titles in both divisions and Bones will be looking to do the same upon his return.

Ngannou could defend against Jones

Jones could be making his long-awaited return to the UFC next year, with his proposed fight being against his toughest challenger yet.

The former light-heavyweight champion has not competed since February 2020, when he beat Dominik Reyes to defend his title, Sports Brief reported.

Jones relinquished his light-heavyweight title six months after his last fight, announcing that he would be moving up to the heavyweight division to challenge for that title.
