Coco Gauff is set to pocket a hefty sum despite falling short in her bid to secure a second Grand Slam title.

The 20-year-old tennis star was controversially beaten 6-2, 6-4 by Iga Swiatek - the same opponent who defeated her in the 2022 final.

Gauff was reduced to bouts of tears as she was overcome by the much calmer Pole on Court Philippe-Chatrier and was embroiled in a heated argument with the chair umpire in the second set.

Gauff suffered a bitter defeat as the 2023 Grand Slam champion called on the introduction of video replays to curb controversial decisions.

"There are so many decisions that are made, and it's sad as a player to go back or online and you see that you were completely right, and it's like, what does that give you in that moment?” Gauff told reporters after the match, per Sky Sports.

"I think tennis is the only sport where not only we don't have the VR system, but a lot of times the decisions are made by one person.”
