Coco Gauff recently gave fans some perspective on how young she was after being asked what she planned to do with her new-found fortune after becoming a Grand Slam champion.
On Saturday, she secured her maiden Grand Slam title after sinking Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open final in what was an incredible feat for the 19-year-old.
Her win meant she became the first American teenager to win the Grand Slam since Serena Williams, who did so back in 1999.
Thanks to the win, Gauff is set to pocket a staggering $3million [£2.37million] in prize money.
To say the money is a hefty sum would be an understatement, especially bearing in mind that the new Grand Slam champion is barely 20.
Thanks to the win, Gauff’s cumulative career earnings have now rocketed to a massive $11,107,463.
What will Gauff do with her winnings?
On a recent Instagram Live session with her fans, Gauff was asked what many fans have been wondering after learning just how lucrative the sport of tennis can be, especially for a young athlete.
In response, the youngster revealed that she got suggestions from some fans to pay off her debts - something she doesn’t have at the moment.
As cited on TalkSport, the 19-year-old said she has been debt-free since she did not go to college, and the fact that she still lives with her parents only means minimal bills.
"Somebody said, 'pay off debts'... I'm 19, I don't have any debt, I'm not in debt," she said in between giggles.
