- The 2018 Australian Open champion has set her sights on the US Open in August

Three years after retiring to start a family, Caroline Wozniacki is making a comeback in tennis. The 32-year-old is expected to play in the upcoming US Open later this year.
The Danish superstar won the Australian Open in 2018 and 30 WTA Tour-level titles, spending an impressive 71 weeks at the top of the world rankings.
Wozniacki announced her retirement before the 2020 Australian Open at the age of 29, saying she wanted to start a family with her husband, former Golden State Warriors forward, David Lee.
The couple now have a daughter, Olivia, and a son, James.
The Dane is looking to play at the Canadian Open in Montreal in August before playing the US Open, where she reached the final in 2009 and 2014. She has been handed a wildcard for the event.
Why is Wozniacki returning now?
Speaking to Vogue, she said 23-time Grand Slam singles winner, Serena Williams, inspired her to return to the court. Williams gave birth to a daughter, Olympia, in September 2017 and later returned to competition.
"I think that Serena doesn’t get nearly enough credit for getting to so many Grand Slam finals after having Olympia. Her retirement will always be bittersweet, both for me and for so many other players, because she’s meant so much to women’s tennis. She paved the way for so many of us - she showed us that anything is possible."
Wozniacki also laid out her plans as she returns to competition.

Federer retired in 2022 after a decorated career where he won 22 Grand Slam titles, making the most money out of the three stars.
However, Djokovic and Nadal have won more Grand Slam titles than the legendary Swiss star but earned less from their careers.
