Looking back is easier when feeling anxious about the future.
Former England centre-turned Royal celebrity, Mike Tindall, has questioned the Springboks' credentials.
European rugby fans have been bitterly dismissive of their southern hemisphere foes, following the elimination of Ireland and France.
A co-host of The Good, the Bad & The Rugby podcast, Tindall claimed that France deserved to win the quarter-final.
Many neutrals may agree that France were in the ascendancy but French fullback Thomas Ramo admitted his team could have benefited from 'being a little more precise when we had the ball', adding:
"They were very strong in the rucks and tackles. Our half-backs couldn’t get clean ball," Ramos was quoted by World Rugby.
South Africans on X, formerly known as Twitter, had their own analysis to share with Tindall.
Looking ahead to the semi-final, the aristocrat talked up England's chances of avenging their final defeat four years ago.
"The biggest factor in this is that you’re now in semi-final rugby, and what that does for the pressure levels. South Africa had their one game, why can’t we."
Using several laughing emojis and one clown emoji, X user TogaLoco@lomatos78 posted:
"Mike Tindall the serial Springbok hater. What a clown."
Tindall's radar was slightly off prior to Wales being promptly dispatched 29-17 by Argentina in the opening quarter-final of the weekend.
Speaking on his podcast again, Tindall was quoted by WalesOnline as saying:
"I think Wales are on a roll. I think Argentina’s performance stepped up but I think Wales will win that. I think generally it could be tight, but I think Wales’ defence is exceptional.”

Springboks can go all the way
Sports Brief recently reported on how the Springboks can win the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Having edged France in the last quarter-final, many are now tipping the Springboks to go all the way.
Springboks are three-time champions and boast the highest win percentage ratio of any team in the semis.
