It was a first half that many will remember.
Defending Rugby World Cup champions South Africa and the tournament’s hosts, France put on a show to remember in the first 40 minutes of their quarter-final clash.
The two sides traded three tries each, converting two and missing one, but it was the French side who took the lead into the break.
The French also managed to convert a penalty and led the game 22-19 at the break. As noted by The Independent, Cyril Baille scored twice, and Peato Mauvaka grabbed the other try for the French. Thomas Ramos got the rest of their points with the boot.
For South Africa, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Cheslin Kolbe and Damian de Allende got the tries. Manie Libbok converted two of the tries for the defending champions.
The try-filled four minutes also saw both sides set a new record in the knockout phases of the tournament.
Their combined six tries set the record for the most ever in the first half of a knockout game at the World Cup.
Libbok and Reinach get the nod

South Africa's head coach Jacques Nienaber has announced the squad to face the Europeans at the famous Stade de France on Sunday, October 15.
The Springboks have only lost one game in the competition so far, coming after Libbok misfired with the boot in their clash against Ireland.
