It's going to be a nervy wait for the French national rugby team and all its fans.
The side are sweating over the status of captain Antoine Dupont, who could miss the rest of the tournament.
As noted by The Telegraph, Dupont suffered a facial fracture during his side's 96-0 victory over Namibia.
Dupont had a suspected fracture to his “upper jawbone” after a head clash with Namibia's Johan Deysel. Deysel was sent off for the contact.
Following the match, the French Federation released a statement regarding Dupont's injury, The Guardian reported.
"Antoine Dupont has suffered a maxillo-zygomatic fracture. A specialist surgical opinion has been requested to determine the exact length of the player’s unavailability. Antoine Dupont remains with the France squad," the statement read.
This morning (September 22), it was revealed that Dupont would undergo further scans and get a second medical opinion.
While France are expected to navigate their final game of the group against Italy without any hassle, they will be hoping to have Dupont back for the quarter-finals.
France could face either South Africa or Ireland in the last eight.
Described as the best player in the world who produces performances like Lionel Messi by the BBC, Dupont is a star performer for the host nation.
