  • The Springboks continue to trend at the Rugby World Cup because of the colour of their away kit
  • South Africa's away kit has become a meme on social media with many comparing it to Checkers
  • Checkers have responded to the similarities with a hilarious video about inspiring the Springboks

Checkers have won the internet with their latest video. The Southern African retailer has got everyone laughing after they released their Springbok-related skit.

The retailer’s delivery app, Checkers Sixty60, has been trending recently after many compared the Springboks away kit to the brand's colour scheme.

The South African team are using a mint green away kit during the tournament in France, a huge departure from their iconic green and gold gear.

As noted by Good Things Guy, World Rugby asked all the teams competing in the tournament to make it easier for fans with colour vision deficiencies to tell the two sides apart. The rule will come into full effect for all fixtures from 2025.

As a result, the Boks opted for a mint green and white kit, but fans then began to joke that the delivery app had sponsored them.

Checkers didn’t miss a beat in jumping onto the trend and have since released a video explaining where the Boks could have gotten their inspiration from. If you haven’t seen it, it’s not to be missed.

There have been a host of hilarious memes about the kit since its launch, and there promises to be many more as the tournament continues.

Here are some of the memes that have already made the rounds on social media:
