As noted by Planet Rugby, Argentina and South Africa will meet in a game billed as a rugby World Cup warm-up match. The tournament kicks off on September 8 in France.

The game will also be Argentina’s last game at home before they leave for the tournament. It also allows players to impress the coaches ahead of the squad announcements for the World Cup.

Argentina without Juan Cruz Mallia

Los Pumas will go into the game without their fullback, Juan Cruz Mallia, who was handed a two-week suspension for his challenge during the previous fixture.

As noted by SA Rugby Mag, Mallia was suspended for his challenge on Grant Williams, which knocked out the South African scrumhalf. Both sets of players will also be looking to avoid serious injuries ahead of the upcoming tournament.

A thrilling Springbok win

Though the game is billed as a friendly between the two, Argentina will look to avenge their previous loss.

Despite dominating large portions of the game, they were beaten 22-21 in South Africa.

Awesome scenes at Boks game

When the Springboks play at home, there is always guaranteed action.

That was the case when the South Africans took on Argentina in their final Rugby Championship clash, Sports Brief reported.

The Boks were pushed all the way by a rampant Argentinian side and narrowly hung onto a 22-21 victory at Ellis Park Stadium. The Argentinians had much better chances during the game but wasted them.
