FootballVodacom Bulls Survive Late Scare to Beat Edinburgh As South African Teams All Win in United Rugby Championship
- South Africa's rugby teams all picked up significant wins in the United Rugby Championship this weekend
- The Vodacom Bulls took the lead in the 77th minute thanks to a penalty from flyhalf, Morne Steyn
- The Emirates Lions beat Ospreys by a single point to record their first win of the United Rugby Championship season
The Vodacom Bulls secured their second win of the United Rugby Championship (URC), as they narrowly beat Scottish side Edinburgh in Pretoria.
The Bulls had to contend with a nervy finish to the game as they survived a late penalty scare.
The home side ran out 33-31 winners, after Henry Immelman missed a long-range penalty attempt that would have given Edinburgh the win with the last kick of the game.
Minutes before Immelman’s miss, veteran flyhalf Morne Steyn kept his composure to give the Bulls the lead with a penalty in the 77th minute of the game.

As reported by Sport24, Bulls coach Jake White added that it was fitting that Edinburgh didn’t have time to set up a scoring chance because they wasted time throughout the game. White accused the Scottish side of deliberately killing time during the game, meaning they had no more time to benefit from their late penalty.
How did the other South African sides perform?
It was a good weekend for the South African teams in the URC as every one of the four picked up victories, SuperSport reported.
The Cell C Sharks also secured a narrow win as they beat Zebre Parma in Italy, 42-37, while the DHL Stormers overcame Connacht 38-15.
The Lions bounced back from their opening weekend defeat to beat Ospreys 28-27.
