FootballSpringbok Fans Roast Elton Jantjies After Wales Horror Show Against Wales, Jacques Nienaber Defends Him
- Elton Jantjies is definitely not the toast of the town today following his poor performances for South Africa against Wales last night
- While he can't be blamed for the Springboks' poor effort as they scraped home against the Dragons, he was undeniably the worst performer in the team
- Annoyed supporters poured onto social media to criticise him, but coach Jacques Nienaber jumped to his defence
Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies to stay off social media following his lacklustre performance against Wales at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane last night.
South Africa was fortunate to escape with a 32-29 victory over the underdog Dragons, who led for much of the encounter. Several players were off colour, with Jantjies being singled out, whether unfairly or not.
He ended trending on Twitter as angry supporters made their feelings known on his effort, being mercifully substituted at half-time by coach Jacques Nienaber.

"Elton Jantjies is even worse at flyhalfing than at flying."

"If Elton Jantjies was responsible for the switch at Eskom we’d never have loadshedding."
@Ribs4JW riffed:
"Elton Jantjies proving today he is the Carl Niehaus of the Rugby World"
While the puns flew all over the place, Nienaber sprang to the beleaguered Jantjies defence, according to Sport24.
He said:
"Elton has played less than 30 minutes in the year. He did his shoulder and obviously went through his rehab, but his club in Japan didn't get to the final, so there weren't any games to expose him to.
"The only exposure he had for the better part of the year was training, so we needed to get him some games and it was always going to take some time for a guy who has been out for a while. It was good for us to expose him to Test rugby."
