- The Vodacom Bulls made light work of the Dragons at Loftus Versfeld in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship on Saturday night
- Kurt-Lee Arendse was in fine form, scoring a double as the home side ran in eight tries to the visitors' two in a 55-20 win
- The result saw Jake White's men leapfrog the Cell C Sharks on the log table as the race for play-off sports heated up
Kurt-Lee Arendse scored a brace of tries to help the Vodacom Bulls seal a bonus-point 55-20 victory over the Dragons at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday night.
The home team was expected to put the Welsh visitors to the sword, with the latter sitting second-bottom on the log table. They duly obliged, running in eight tries against an overwhelmed opponent; a result that secured a sixth home win for South African sides over the Welsh regions this season.
Arendse continued his excellent form of late at fullback, scoring a try in each half. Outside centre Lionel Mapoe also scored a brace.
The hosts had the bonus point wrapped up in the 37th minute and took a 31-8 lead into the break. Dragons did hit back with tries either side of half time, but that did little to disrupt the Bulls’ momentum.
Jake White’s team has now leapfrogged the Sharks into seventh place on the log – the Durban side lost to Edinburgh earlier on Saturday – and cut the gap on the top four to six points.
The Bulls next take on second-placed Ulster in a match that marks the return to Loftus of former Bulls captain Duane Vermeulen. Dean Ryan's side, on the other hand, next face the Sharks on Friday in Durban.
