Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has taken a sensational U-turn on his retirement, as he announced on Monday that he was coming back for his 23rd season.
Brady, largely regarded as one of the greatest players in NFL history said in February that he was calling it quits on what has been a lucrative career.
However, weeks on and the quarterback said he had “unfinished business” and would rejoin his beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"These past two months I've realised my place is still on the field and not in the stands," he announced on Twitter.
“That time will come. But it's not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I'm coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa."
“Tampa Tom is back”
After his initial retirement announcement after 22 successful seasons, there were hints that Tom Brady would make a comeback as he kept saying “never say never”.
At the time, the 44-year old said his desire to spend more time with his wife Gisele Bundchen, and three children was the key factor in his decision to retire.
However, something seems to have changed Brady’s mind, and it might have something to do with his trip to Old Trafford on Saturday, March 12.
The three-time NFL season MVP went viral on Saturday after attending Manchester United’s game against Tottenham Hotspur and briefly engaging Cristiano Ronaldo, a player considered the best in football history.

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported of how Cristiano Ronaldo has become football's all-time leading goalscorer for both club and country following his Man United heroics against Tottenham Hotspur.
