Jamaican sprinter and fastest woman in the world Elaine Thompson-Herah got into a little bit of trouble on social media recently.
In celebration of bagging gold medals, Thompson-Herah wanted to show her followers how she did it, but it resulted in her getting blocked from the app.
In Tokyo, the Jamaican sprinter successfully defended her Olympic championships from the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, bringing her total Olympic gold medals to four from two Games. Her attempt to share, however, didn't go according to plan.
Thompson-Herah said:
"I was blocked on Instagram for posting the races of the Olympic (sic) because I did not own the right to do so. So see y'all in 2 days."
Because the International Olympic Committee owns the intellectual property associated with the Olympic Games, athletes and other credentialed personnel are limited in what they can post to their social media profiles, including some photographs and videos from the Games.
A representative for Facebook, Instagram's parent company, confirmed that a video had been removed, but that Thompson-account Herah's had been suspended inadvertently according to New York Times.
African athlete sets new record in Womens 1500m
Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon earned the country her second gold of the Tokyo Olympics, thanks to an emphatic performance in the women’s 1500m finals.
Kipyegon was too powerful for pre-race favourite Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, who finished third after a slight mishap in her steps in the final 200 metres.

FootballThanks to her time of 3:53:11, the Kenyan enjoyed double delight as her victory also meant she had broken a 33-year-old record in the races, which was previously held by Romanian Paula Ivan (3:53.11).
Peres Jepchirchir wins gold
Legit.ng earlier reported that Kenya once again shone at the Tokyo Olympics thanks to a much-deserved victory by Peres Jepchirchir in the women’s marathon.
Jepchirchir did superbly in the closing moments to beat world record holder Brigid Kosgei to win the race in 2 hours, 27 seconds.
Israel's Lonah Chemtai stopped her race in the final five kilometres when it looked like she would scoop bronze, which was eventually won by American Molly Seidel in 27 minutes 46 seconds.
