Stephen Curry has now scored 22,000 points in his NBA career. The veteran reached that mark in Golden State Warriors defeat at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Warriors lost the game 118-110 at Chase Center, leaving them with a 6-4 record. Curry scored 30 points, but it wasn't enough to stop the Cavaliers.

Early in the third quarter, Curry made a tough jumper to reach 22,000 career points in the NBA. He is the 36th player in NBA history to reach that mark.

Only four active players have scored more points than the two-time MVP, namely LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook. James is the all-time leading scorer in NBA history, per the Athletic.

In total, Curry now has 22,012 points after 892 NBA games.

However, Currry's team suffered a third loss in four games and will be looking to bounce back when they face the Minnesota Timberwolves in back-to-back home games.

Curry's career so far

The 35-year-old is playing in his 15th NBA season, and it has been successful. He is a four-time NBA champion and has the most three-pointers in NBA history.

He is considered one of the best point guards of all time. He proved the doubters wrong in 2022 when he led the Warriors to their fourth NBA title in eight years, winning his only Finals MVP award in the process.

In 10 games this season, he's averaging 30.0 points per game, the fourth-best in the NBA.

Magic Johnson disputes Curry's claim

Sports Brief earlier reported on the Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson disputing Steph Curry's claim that he is the greatest point guard in NBA history.

In August, Curry said that he is the best point guard of all time, but Johnson contested Curry's claims by listing his achievements.

"If he got more than No. 1 in assists all-time in the Finals, No. 2 in double-doubles, No. 1 in triple-doubles all-time in the NBA playoffs, No. 4 in steals all-time in the playoffs. If he got more than those numbers, then he's the best."
