  • The NBA has some elite players over 30 years of age
  • Stephen Curry and LeBron James are the obvious names of players still dominating in their 30s
  • Sports Brief ranks NBA players over 30 years old in the league

Most elite professional sports are considered young men's (or women's) games. As players get older, there's wear and tear due to the physical demands of sports.

In the NBA, some players, like LeBron James, have defied 'Father Time' and proved that sometimes, age is just a number.

No player lasts forever, but some have been able to extend their prime into their late 30s.

In the last few seasons, we've seen stars explode, dominate, and decline, and then others take their place. We're currently seeing this process unfolding in the NBA.

Sports Brief looks at players over 30 in the NBA based on their stats and impact on their team in the last few seasons.

Top 10 over-30 NBA players

10. Kawhi Leonard (32) - Los Angeles Clippers

It's a shame Kawhi Leonard has not been able to shake off the injuries. He is a two-time Finals MVP winner and a two-way monster. If he were injury-free, he'd be way higher on this list. He's averaging 21.4 points in seven games this season in the NBA.

9. Paul George (33) - Los Angeles Clippers

Just like Leonard, George can't stay healthy. The Clippers duo have been tipped to win the NBA title in the last few seasons, but injuries have hampered them. The former Indiana Pacers star is still putting up 25.4 points this season and remains an elite defender.

8. Kyrie Irving (31) - Dallas Mavericks

Irving has grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons in the last few years, but don't let that fool you. The guard is a certified bucket, and he can do it however he wants. He's averaged at least 20 points in 11 of his 13 NBA seasons.

7. James Harden (34)- Los Angeles Clippers

Harden has been a journeyman in the last few years but has made an impact wherever he went. His playoff performances have raised some eyebrows, but he will be looking to right the wrongs with the Clippers alongside George and Leonard.

6. Damian Lillard (33) - Milwaukee Bucks

Lillard left the Portland Trail Blazers after falling short in the postseason, per ESPN. He joins another superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo. The guard has averaged at least 20 points in the last 11 NBA seasons. He had his best year last season when he averaged 32.2 points per game.

5. Jimmy Butler (34) - Miami Heat

Butler led the Miami Heat to the 2023 NBA Finals. He took down Antetokounmpo and Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum along the way with iconic performances.

4. Anthony Davis (30) - Los Angeles Lakers

Davis is another player that has been affected by constant injuries. However, the Lakers won't reach the 2023 Western Conference finals without him. He is expected to take charge at the Lakers since LeBron James turns 39 in December. Davis is one of the best defensive players in the NBA, and the Lakers struggle without him.

3. Kevin Durant (35) - Phoenix Suns

Durant is one of the best scorers of all time, but injuries have not helped. He has never averaged less than 20 points per game in his NBA career, and at 35, he's putting up 29.3 points per game. He's won almost everything in his career and still looks very good. Ring No. 3 on the way?

2. LeBron James (38) - Los Angeles Lakers

There are no words to describe what LeBron James continues to do in the league. Just like Durant, James has never averaged under 20 points in his NBA career. So far this season, he is averaging 24.4 points, and his Lakers team is considered a serious contender.

1. Stephen Curry (35) - Golden State Warriors

Curry is the greatest shooter of all time, and his place among NBA icons is cemented. He took the Warriors from decades of mediocrity to greatness. He is dropping 30 points per game this season and still looks elite in his mid-30s.
