NBASteph Curry: NBA Icon Questions Warriors Star’s Claim That He’s the GOAT Point Guard
- Magic Johnson has finally responded to Stephen Curry
- The Golden State Warriors recently claimed he was the best point guard of all time
- The Los Angeles Lakers legend has refuted those claims
Stephen Curry and Magic Johnson are considered the two greatest point guards of all time, but heated debates always arise as to who between the two is the undisputed No. 1.
In August, Curry said that he is the best point guard of all time, but the Los Angeles Lakers icon has now contested Curry's claims by listing his achievements.
The Golden State Warriors superstar unequivocally said he was the best point guard of all time in Gilbert Arenas's podcast. Some agreed, and some disputed that claim, but Curry did say the argument was between him and Johnson.
Johnson, an NBA superstar in the 1980s, has now responded to Curry's claim by making his own case. He listed his achievements, which include five NBA titles, three league MVPs, and three finals MVPs, per CBS Sports.
"If he got more than No. 1 in assists all-time in the Finals, No. 2 in double-doubles, No. 1 in triple-doubles all-time in the NBA playoffs, No. 4 in steals all-time in the playoffs. If he got more than those numbers, then he's the best.
"If he got more than all those things, he's the best. But the last time I checked, he doesn't. But everybody has to decide for themselves who they think the best is."
Both players are in the top 15 of the greatest NBA players of all time, but just like the football GOAT debate, this debate will keep going on.
Johnson vs. Curry debate
These NBA legends each have a unique set of skills. Curry's mind-boggling shooting ability is second to none, while Johnson's IQ and passing ability are up there among the best. Here's how their CVs stack up, per Sporting News. Remember, Curry has a few seasons before he can retire.
