  • Shaquille O'Neal has named his list of the 10 greatest NBA players of all time
  • He included his favorite player, Stephen Curry, and Allen Iverson
  • Shaq named his list days after NBA legend Julius Erving named a controversial top 10 list

Top 10 NBA lists are usually contentious, as we recently saw with Julius Erving's controversial list in which he omitted LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kobe Bryant.

Los Angeles Lakers icon, Shaquille O'Neal has named his list and is almost the opposite of Dr. J's. He included LeBron, Bryant, and Curry in his list.

Other players Shaq had on his list were Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Karl Malone, Isiah Thomas, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, per LA Times.

Some fans questioned his choice of picking Iverson and Thomas, who are considered great but not in the top 10. Others felt he snubbed the likes of Larry Bird and Hakeem Olajuwon. Still, most of those players appear in many top 10 lists.

O'Neal has always said Curry is his favorite player, and the Golden State superstar has the accolades to warrant that selection. Other players on that list have won multiple championships, MVPs, and at least a Finals MVP.

Greatest player in NBA history?

By acclamation, Michael Jordan is regarded as the best player in NBA history. His six NBA titles and flawless NBA Finals record are unmatched and will likely never be. His influence on the sport and culture all over the world is unprecedented.

LeBron James is also considered the greatest player in the world because of his longevity and accomplishments. He recently became the NBA's all-time leading scorer, and that record will surely stand for decades.

Those two are usually ranked either first or second. Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Tim Duncan are almost always in the top 10. The rest of the positions are always debatable.

Shaq rejects Top 10 list

Sports Brief earlier reported on Shaq rejecting a list of top 10 NBA players of all time because it didn't feature his teammate, Kobe Bryant.

Shaq shared a top 10 list made by Playmaker, and although he agreed with himself getting in the top 5, he didn't like that his former LA Lakers teammate, Kobe Bryant was omitted.

The late great Bryant was named 10th in the Athletic's top 75 NBA players of all time, with James coming first and Stephen Curry third.
