In videos that have gone viral online, the 28-year-old was seen playing basketball with the kids at the camp and even sitting down and having a chat with them. Hundreds of fans surrounded the court to watch arguably the best player in the world, according to Philip Braide.

The Bucks star seemed to be enjoying himself on the court, and kids who got a chance to play alongside him will definitely cherish those memories.

Antetokounmpo Nigerian roots

Charles and Veronica Adetokunbo, Giannis' parents, moved from Lagos to Greece in 1991, hoping to better the lives of their family. Giannis was born in Greece in 1994 as Adetokunbo and grew up in Greek culture, but since both his parents grew up in Nigeria, he lived the Nigerian way, according to Andscape.

“I grew up in a Nigerian home,” Antetokounmpo said. “Obviously, I was born in Greece and went to school in Greece. But at the end of the day when I go home, there is no Greek culture. It’s straight-up Nigerian culture."

Giannis was selected 15th overall in the first round of the 2013 NBA draft, but not many expected him to be a star. A decade later, he is an NBA champion, a 2x MVP, and a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. He first set foot in Africa in 2015 during the Africa Game in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Antetokounmpo passionate speech

Sports Brief earlier reported on Antetokounmpo giving a passionate speech about failure after the Bucks' embarrassing playoff exit in April.

The Bucks were eliminated from the 2023 NBA playoffs after losing Game 5 to the 8th-seed Miami Heat. They lost 128-126 in overtime.

"It's not a failure; it's steps to success. There's always steps to it. Michael Jordan played 15 years, won six championships. The other nine years was a failure? That's what you're telling me?"
