Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors failed to defend the NBA title they won in 2022 after getting eliminated in the 2023 playoffs in the second round.

Although the 2023/24 NBA season is months away, Curry said he is focused on winning at this stage of his career.

The 35-year-old has been playing golf, his favorite offseason activity, at the American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe. He was playing alongside his father, Dell, Canelo Alvarez (the boxer), and Jake Owen (the country-music singer).

Curry and the Warriors have bolstered their roster ahead of the new season. They have added veteran, Chris Paul in a stunning blockbuster trade that sent young guard, Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards. Curry sent Poole a heartfelt message after the trade was made official.

Paul also explained his relationship with Curry. The legendary point guard said that he has known the two-time MVP for a long time, and they even worked out together years ago.

Curry's warning to NBA

Speaking in Nevada, Curry said that his teammates need to understand that their only goal next season is to win. The four-time NBA champion was spotted with Paul at the NBA Summer League for the first time since the trade.

“The biggest thing is, everybody comes to camp with the right mindset of just trying to win — we’ve got to talk it, live it out and understand the time frame of our careers,” Curry said. “Nobody’s got time to waste in terms of any energy other than trying to win,” he said, via San Francisco Chronicle.

The Warriors have also acquired NBA veterans, Dario Saric and Cory Joseph. Paul is expected to lead the second unit, which struggled last season. Curry said that the roster now has great experience.

“We got a lot older and more mature, with guys who have been around and in a lot of different situations and understand how to play.”

Draymond Green, who returned to the Warriors after signing an extension, said he is looking forward to learning from Paul, who will play a vital role in the development of Jonathan Kuminga.

CP3 trade: Curry, Thompson react

Sports Brief earlier reported on Curry and his teammate Thompson reacting to the news that long-time rival, Chris Paul will join them in San Francisco next season.

“Every team that CP has been on gets better,” Curry said. “That’s the most consistent thing about him, and who he is and what he brings to the team.”

The Warriors shook the NBA world by announcing that they were trading Jordan Poole for 38-year-old Paul.
