NBA players with dreads: Who has the best locks in the league right now?
NBAJordan Poole Speaks for the First Time Since Warriors Traded Him to Wizards
- Jordan Poole is excited about playing for the Washington Wizards
- Poole was traded by the Golden State Warriors and was speaking for the first time since he was traded
- Chris Paul joined the Warriors in the blockbuster trade
Before the 2023 NBA Draft, NBA fans were stunned by the news that the Golden State Warriors were trading Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards for veteran point guard, Chris Paul.
The 24-year-old spoke for the first time after the trade was made official by both teams.
Poole was viewed as the heir apparent to Stephen Curry, one of the NBA's greatest point guards, but that isn't the case anymore. He played a crucial part when the Warriors won the 2022 NBA championship.
However, before the 2022/23 season, he was involved in an altercation with Warriors veteran, Draymond Green who punched him in practice. That incident cast a big cloud over their season, and some felt it deeply affected the team's camaraderie.
Poole reacts to Wizards' trade
One of the questions that came up when Poole was speaking to reporters on Saturday afternoon was if Green's punch affected the team in any way. He cleverly dodged the question.
"We're in Washington now," Poole told reporters. "Playing with (Kyle Kuzma), great duo. Being able to really flourish, expand our game. New team, an entirely new group of guys. It’s a challenge that we’re up for. There’s a new front office and there’s a lot of people who are invested. Everybody’s locked in, wants to be here. It’s the start of something we think can be special," he said, via Anthony Slater.
He played four seasons with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, showing significant improvement every season. He had a great 2022/23 regular season but his postseason performance regressed. Curry sent a heartfelt message to his former teammate after the trade was made official.

The two point guards, who have been rivals in the NBA for years, were all smiles.
Paul said he was excited to play with Curry and the rest of the Warriors' big three.
